Public Funding of Quality News & Journalism..
Quality Journalism is becoming unaffordable for many Media outlets.
In-depth Journalism is expensive and was always funded by the 'sale of news'.
With the avalanche of "Free News" on the internet, their inability to collect a reasonable remuneration for News is seriously impacting on the affordability of good Investigative Journalists.
The quality of journalism is also being seriously eroded by the obvious bias that thrives when multiple media outlets are owned by one 'media mogul'.
We propose government funding of Internet News sources based on hit rates and a peer ratings system.
The zero to ten star rating system would be similar to the current Awards that recognize excellence in journalism.
E.g. Media sources scoring above 3 (in a 1 to 10 ranking) would be paid a certain price per hit multiplied by their ranking number. The search engines (Like Google) would contribute a percentage of this remuneration.
This is another reason we need "Sister Parties" in multiple countries. - Zillion dollar Institutions like Google should contribute to the funding of Journalists (who help them earn those zillions) - but never would without the coercion of several countries.
