Excessive Litigation..
We need to address the crippling human condition known as ‘Obsessive Compulsive Litigation’.
Within any historic caring family, if one member was crippled by the actions of another, the whole family undertook the task and costs of caring for the victim for the rest of his life. That was the best the family could afford to do. The modern phenomena of million dollar compensation paid for the loss of a finger is an insanity. The family (the Nation) simply cannot afford it.
Those massive payouts are NOT paid by the insurance company, they are paid collectively by the nation. Those massive payouts have created a lawyer feeding frenzy of litigation that will go down in history as one of the most insane aspects of the 20th century!
We see voluntary Lifesavers sued for taking too long to rescue someone!
Free charity events 'in the park' forced to close because the insurance cover has gone from $100 to $10,000.
Doctors sued for skipping test number 99 because they believed it was not necessary.
Home owners sued when a burglar trips over the garden hose left on the driveway.
These payouts and the lawyer games have driven the price of general insurance beyond the reach of millions of families.
If it were simply up to the collective family (the nation) to care for the victims, the costs would be a fifth of current premiums.
Thanks to the global bailouts, The worlds Taxpayers are now the proud owners of several large Insurance giants like AIG. As our sister parties spread to each country, these equities will be Nationalized into a global chain of low cost Insurance providers.
Directly, we will start a non-profit National Insurance Agency (NIA) that will start small and compete with the existing general insurance companies for customers.. As it grows, many of the larger companies will loose share value and will be easily 'acquired'. Within 5 years, the NIA will be able to set the standard and change the insurance scene from the 'ridiculous' to the affordable.
There will be no massive lump-sum payouts. Compensation will be based upon monthly needs and related expenses. The scope of the National Emergency Fund will be extended to cover these insurance claims.
Schools, Lifesavers, Charities, Emergency workers, Medical GPs, Public events etc. will not need Public Liability insurance. Negligence will still attract criminal charges, and victims of negligence will be compensated (gradually) The need for $500 per hour accident/injury lawyers will cease to exist.
